Mallika’s birth name is Reema Lamba, who was born on 24 October 1976 in the Moth village of Hisar district in Haryana. She grew up in a Jat family. Her father’s name is Mukesh Kumar Lamba, the son of Seth Chhaju Ram. Seth Chhaju Ram gained popularity as a prominent Jat philanthropist. Reema’s mother’s name is Santosh Sherawat.
She named Mallika to avoid confusion with other actresses named Reema. Apart from this, due to her mother’s great support in her life, Mallika adopted her mother’s surname Sherawat. Her family did not allow her to enter the film industry, due to which the family atmosphere at her home was tense. But Sherawat’s mother supported her and later the family also accepted her.
